Clipper Legacy

Archaeotech specializes in maintaining and renovating DOS database applications written in Clipper™.  Clipper™ is a development tool from Computer Associates, Inc. that was derived from dBase, the original data base management system for microcomputers.  It stores data in industry standard DBF file format.

Clipper Maintenance

Often these older applications are still performing adequately, but the original developers are long gone and your staff is no longer familiar with Clipper™ programming.  Maintenance issues and minor enhancements present major stumbling blocks.  Archaeotech can solve these problems for you.

Upgrade Clipper to Windows

In some cases, you may want to upgrade your application to become a true Windows application.  We may be able to reuse some of your existing code.  Please contact us for further details.

Legacy Experience

Often dealing with these legacy applications involves some "archaeology research" since such systems are usually not well documented.  Recent assignments in this area include:

Continuous Emission Monitoring
This real time system monitors  stack emissions at electric power plants to ensure compliance with EPA's Acid Rain Program.  Upgraded real time system to meet changing EPA regulations.
Mortgage Bond Inventory
This application tracked the bond portfolio of a major mortgage banker.  The system was upgraded to meet new requirements and to extend the system's life while a new system was being developed.
Lease Management System
A major financial house uses this system for setting up leases and then managing the generation of invoices over the life of the lease.  Extended system life to handle additional types of leases.
BaseLoading Housing Requirements
This tool is used to project housing needs at military bases.  This system supplemented and then replaced a mainframe system and used worldwide personnel data.  The new system improved ease of use and made information available at regional offices.
